Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a motivated and capable HR and Admin Intern for our operations in North Area Office –Shire and Mekelle, Tigray.
About the job
The Human Resources and Administration Intern, in coordination and cooperation with the direct support and supervision of the HR and Admin Officer, is responsible for substantially contributing to the following mentioned in the Responsibilities.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Prepare contract agreements for rentals, premises, or any other required documentation.
- Maintain and update contact lists.
- Carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, etc, as well as assisting with tasks related to compounds (repairs)
- Ensure the presence of up-to-date HR documentation and recordkeeping
- Produce and maintain updated HR and personnel files and regularly update them in soft and hard copies in line with the DRC filing system.
- Scan HR related documents and archive them electronically in an organized manner.
- Maintenance of archives, making sure files are properly stored and accessible, and safekeeping of documents.
- Collect HR documents and forms from newly hired employees and file the documents as required.
- Assist the HR Officer in the recruitment process; Schedule and confirm interviews with candidates
- Collect and update spreadsheets with new hire information (e.g., employment forms and contact information)
- Gather payroll data like leaves, working hours, and bank accounts
- Work closely with the HR/Admin Officer to create a professional working environment and to ensure that all related work is done properly.
- Perform any other related activities as assigned by the HR & Admin Officer and the Support Service Manager
- Follow up with the office Cleaner and make sure the office and guesthouse are clean and good for working and living.
- Make sure office cleaning and supplies are purchased on time
Experience and technical competencies:
- Ability to work in Shire or Mekelle
- Excellent skills in the use of computers (MS Word, Excel, Outlook Power PowerPoint).
EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)
- Fresh Graduate from a recognized university in Human Resource Management and other relevant fields
LANGUAGE: (indicate fluency level)
- English, Tigrigna & Amharic – Excellence in spoken and in writing

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National employees
