Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for a Driver in Dnipro. We encourage women to apply for this position and actively support gender equality within our team.
The Driver is responsible to drive, manage and administer the vehicle to provide safe and efficient transport for operations teams and field offices.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Carry out the Daily vehicle driving duty and inspection of vehicle in accordance with the Supply Chain Manual and SOP Fleet Management;
- Guarantee the safe transportation of passengers and cargo;
- Ensure that each vehicle is carrying a Vehicle Logsheet, First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguisher;
- Ensure that the vehicles are cleaned both inside and out whenever needed;
- Report any accident or damage or defects to the vehicle to the Supply Chain Team Leader and Security Specialist and appropriate complete Accident Report, passing it to the Supply Chain Team Leader for further action
- Check and ensure Vehicle Logsheet are correctly completed. Ensure that the Logsheet are handed to the Supply Chain Team Leader on the first day of each month;
- Sending the completed Vehicle Logsheet to the Supply Chain Team Leader at the end of each day;
- Make sure that assigned vehicles are parked correctly during the day and at night at the office parking;
- Advise the Supply Chain Team Leader of needed service and maintenance of the assigned vehicle minimum 3 days in advance.
- Check the assigned vehicle after it has returned from repair to ensure that the work it went in for has been completed;
- Comply with the requirements of the traffic regulations and applicable laws of Ukraine, as well as internal rules and procedures of DRC in the country of assignment;
- Monitoring fuel states and organizing refuelling of the assigned vehicle;
- At all times, be in possession of a valid driving license and make sure that the license is renewed when necessary;
- Maintain communication with Supply Chain Team Leader and Safety Team Leader;
- Perform work in accordance with the operational needs of the organization;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Team Leader in Dnipro.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have a valid driver’s license in categories B and C. You should also possess at least five years of accident-free driving experience, preferably with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs). Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- Clean driving license (no conviction letter);
- 4x2, 4x4 / off road experience;
- Manual transmission experience;
- Knowledge of the technical characteristics of vehicles;
- Basic computer literacy, including skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
- Fluency in the Ukrainian language;
- Knowledge of the area.
Desirable
- University degree (secondary education is the minimum requirement).
- Knowledge of English language will be a privilege.
