The Durable Solutions Coordinator/Expert will lead on ME DSP work on durable solutions programming and capacity development, as well as support with external engagement, including donor meetings and policy influencing, at the discretion of the ME DSP Manager. The role will help shape and determine strategy, identify opportunities for ME DSP engagement, build relationships with key partners and ensure the delivery of high-quality activities.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Support better durable solutions programming (lead)
- Organise technical durable solutions trainings, programme learning workshops and events for ME DSP members and partners, including NGO fora
- Lead on processes to document real time learning and emerging best practices from durable solutions programmes implemented by ME DSP members and partners to inform programme adaptation, for instance on investing in community engagement processes and improving collective accountability to displacement-affected communities
- Convene representatives of heterogenous actors, including government authorities, humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding partners, to discuss collective outcomes and engage in joint durable solutions programming
- Manage the development of existing and new tools and online tutorials to support with programme implementation
- Facilitate and organise regular consultations/technical workshops and learning events/meetings on key issues of interest and catalyse change at policy and practice levels in the Middle East, i.a. by sharing global developments relevant to displacement responses in the region
- Ensure cross-learning and coherence between the different countries and at regional level, and between partners and other stakeholders
- Compile and synthesize information, manage the production and dissemination of a diverse range of information products, internal and external technical briefs, and one pagers
Support policy influencing (alongside ME DSP Manager)
- Engage and work with ME DSP members and partners, including NGO fora, to plan and implement pro-active influencing strategies that deliver ME DSP’s strategic objectives and priorities
- Map out and foster relationships with key stakeholders that ME DSP should engage with on displacement issues in the Middle East
- Coordinate, facilitate, and develop a range of influencing activities including events, commissioning and undertaking publications, drafting position papers and briefings, convening policy dialogue with policymakers etc.
Research and knowledge management (in collaboration with ME DSP Manager)
- Support in identifying research topics that fit ME DSP’s role as a thought leader and/or policy influencing/programming for durable solutions in the Middle East
- Support the analysis of displacement-related data, strategies, policies and legislation
- Translate evidence and research into programing and policy guidance
- Ensure dissemination in a relevant format, including by developing briefing papers and policy papers.
Grant management and reporting (supporting ME DSP Manager)
- Support the development and revision of funding proposals, budgets, donor reports and other project cycle management related tasks as required
Required:
To be successful in this role we expect you to have minimum seven years’ management experience in emergency/development contexts as country director/senior manager of a humanitarian or development organization or similar. Moreover, we also expect the following:
- 5-7 years of experience in similar positions involving durable solutions programming and policy work, experience in the Middle East will be a strong added advantage
- Excellent coordination and networking skills, experience in NGO coordination roles will be a strong added advantage
- Inter-personal facilitation and communication skills to build trusted relationships with a wide array of humanitarian and development partners, donors, government agencies, etc. and demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organisation
- Solid experience in capacity development of a wide range of actors including adult learning, mentoring and coaching, training of trainers and impact monitoring of capacity development activities
- Excellent analytical and writing skills with proven experience in producing high quality research and policy briefs with ability to present complex information in a simple and accessible manner
- Excellent IT command, close familiarity with the maintenance and management of template-style websites, social media platforms
- Flexibility, proactive engagement, ability to work under pressure and demonstrate high tolerance for change, complexity and unpredictability
Education:
University degree with advanced training or technical qualification in relevant line of work/sector
Languages
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Fluency or strong working knowledge of Arabic is desirable

Work location: Amman/Damascus with frequent travel
