Strengthening resilience and empowering women at community based project in west coast of Yemen
As part of its commitment to improving living conditions and supporting durable solutions for displacement-affected communities across Yemen, the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), with funding from the European Union (EU), is implementing a project that places women at the heart of recovery and resilience.
In Al Khukha, Yemen, with the support of EU, DRC, a member of the Yemen Displacement Response (YDR) Consortium, has empowered 49 women and strengthened community resilience through a sustainable, community-based center focused on sewing and Khazaf (palm leaf) handcrafts.
This initiative not only revives traditional crafts but also builds long-term income-generating opportunities for women affected by displacement and poverty. Through hands-on training and access to tools and materials, participants are gaining valuable skills that help restore their independence and dignity.
